John Connell Day Services Officer at Cherry Road Day Centre
Working with Miriam and Wendy to ‘collect’ sounds has given me a greatly increased awareness of how noisy the world can be. By taking our time to be still and learn to listen again we have discovered a range of everyday sounds that we are too busy and preoccupied to notice. When Wendy played the sounds we’d collected back to us through the big balloon I felt as I imagine an insect must feel in our world, surrounded by new subtle and complex patterns of noise, some eerie, some familiar but changed, all of them making me think of sound in a different way.
